Born of This Soul

The human soul
Fragile, momentary,
Yet it is mightier than what seats the throne,
What ravages through lands and borders,
What causes the crumbling rain.
For the soul thrives on what
No man can destroy,
Not what he cannot—and does not—see.
It plants its roots on love for the Other
Faith in the Father
Dreams for the future.

Of the souls that burn in this world
It is that which strengthens in weakness,
Sings in sorrow
And dreams in despair
That shines a light equal to the
First ray that peeps through the window:
Radiant, heaven-sent.
It is the soul that embraces many other souls,
Sharing its light
To make each one emit the same shine.

And while soon it rests in Time,
While permanence is not a gift bestowed,
The death of this soul is a celebration
For the same strength,
The same love,
The same shine
Now passes on, across oceans beyond
Embodied by all it has embraced.

You,
Who are born of this soul
It is your shine, empowering
All that rest beneath your wings.
Rejoice in this truth,
Sing to inspire
And the world becomes a beautiful place.
